| LTS LeaderBoard Kicks Off 2009 Golf Season |
Orlando – LTS LeaderBoard kicked off the 2009 golfing season the second weekend of January with one of its highest profile golf tournaments of the year – the Major League Baseball Players Trust event at Reunion Resort south of Walt Disney World.
Hall of Famer’s Frank Robinson, Eddie Murray and Dave Winfield along with other former and active major leaguers participated in the two-day tournament which is held each year.
“We appreciate what LeaderBoard provides our tournament,” said Hillary Falk, one of the main organizers who put on the event. “They are flexible enough to make changes last minute and on the run.”
Having two large projection screens in the pairings party on Thursday evening before the scheduled first round proved advantageous as the organization held a live baseball memorabilia auction at the same time of the BCS National Title football game between Florida and Oklahoma. LeaderBoard was able to bring a live television feed into the room of the game and placed it on one screen (without sound) as the live auction items were being displayed on the other.
Organizers knew of the conflict beforehand and were afraid they would lose their audience once the game started. However, LeaderBoard’s experience in handling this type of situation shined, having faced a similar situation with an NFL playoff game during the 2007 National Cadillac Invitational Finals at TPC Sawgrass.
LeaderBoard’s photography team was on the golf course daily capturing action and candid shots of the participants. Those pictures then were played back during the reception along with the sponsors’ logos following both rounds. One player who had just made a long 30-foot putt for birdie had such a great reaction, LeaderBoard was able to add “Ya” and “Hoo” on the two pictures taken in sequence which brought laughter from those in the audience when it flashed on the screen the first time.
When actor/comedian Chris Spencer opened the Saturday night program, he asked the LeaderBoard staff to show his golf swing on screen, which was captured earlier in the day by one of the photographers. Within a minute his swing sequence was on the screen which not only surprised Spencer but impressed the organizers with how flexible LeaderBoard’s system can be.
